Unesco, kids literary contest

As every year Unesco Barcelona organize a literary contest, age range 8 to 12.
They write a fairy tale, and if they are chosen they get published and awarded.  
A group of Illustrators are part of this project who illustrate those small tales, as a volunteering exercise.
So that was my turn; Ainara, 10 years old, wrote a tale called "From behind the mirror", so I did my best :)

The basics of creating children's books

Next Monday 21st I'll be teaching an introductory class on illustrating for children's books.

We'll go to through the whole process, from your first thumbnails to the final art for publication. We will learn where to look for inspiration, discover essential structure, composition and style requirements to create visual imaginary worlds.

I will show step by step examples of the best practices and successful layouts, discuss things to consider when merging text and illustration and show various techniques that will help to bring your characters to life and encourage their interaction with the rest of the layout.

Las habichuelas mágicas / Jack & the magic beans

"Periquín vivía con su madre. Un día, como les quedaba poco dinero, ella lo envió a vender su única vaca. Pero, en el camino, Periquín se encontró con un hombre que le ofreció unas habichuelas mágicas a cambio de la vaca. El joven aceptó el ofrecimiento y se marchó a su casa. Cuando llegó, su madre se enfadó mucho y tiró las habichuelas al campo.
Al otro día, Periquín vio sorprendido que de las habichuelas había nacido una planta gigante. Intrigado, trepó por ella y llegó a un castillo. En él vivía un ogro que tenía un cofre con oro. Periquín decidió esperar a que se durmiera para robárselo y huir. Al regresar a su casa con el cofre, Periquín cortó la planta con un hacha. Así, él y su madre dejaron de ser pobres."

Exposició Pati Llimona

El pasado dia 9 de julio se inaguró la exposición "Y el futuro... cómo pinta?", donde participaron socios jóvenes del APIC. Organizado por Berta Navascués, Anna Viñas i Aina Cordoncillo, a las cuales desde aquí les agradezco su tiempo y esfuerzo para que la exposición fuera un éxito.
